Plan and prepare for upgrade
Our specialists will work with you to identify all your key assets and create a detailed upgrade plan, including backup of all existing databases, confirming server farm configuration and determining the best upgrade path. The ease and pace of the upgrade will depend on the size of your current server farm and the complexity of your applications and customisations. In some cases the upgrade can be performed simply in the one place at the one time, but for more complex environments the upgrade will need to be staged and gradual, and in the case of moving to new hardware or architecture will require many complex steps.
Perform pre-upgrade steps
Before performing an upgrade we recommend a trial upgrade using a backup or mirrored site. This method allows you to preview the entire upgrade process and find any issues and address them before you start, or at least be aware of what you will encounter during the upgrade. This method requires an extra investment in time and hardware but is extremely useful in anticipation of the actual upgrade.
Perform the upgrade
Our specialists will work with you to successfully upgrade SharePoint Server according to the upgrade plan. Upon completing the upgrade we will then review all the upgraded sites, and then migrate your content to the new server and apply any customisations.
Post-upgrade review
As well as regular reviews during the process, a post-upgrade review will be performed. The final part of the migration process is to review all the new sites and confirm that the upgrade has been complete and successful. Any issues still unresolved will be addressed at this stage.
